Spooks, Goblins, Cats, Pumpkins Suddenly Appear Downtown
Story and Photos by Barb Cram . . .
Notice that downtown Falls Church is looking very colorful and somewhat spooky?
Monday was “Halloween Paint-In,” the City’s most colorful event, sponsored by Falls Church Arts, the Chamber of Commerce, Public Schools, and Department of Recreation and Parks.
Volunteer artists of all ages and skill submitted sketches before the event. On Monday they were assigned windows and got to work outside City businesses, who eagerly awaited the colorful Halloween art productions.
“I just love it!“ reacted Dr. Paul Cannon of Falls Church Foot and Ankle Center on East Broad. “The City Center area looks so colorful. We are happy to have this fun from the Halloween Paint-In linger for the upcoming weeks on our windows.”
When traveling near Broad and Washington Streets, look for a variety of Halloween subject matter, from 20-foot dragons, to skeletons on the W&OD “BOO” Trail, to numerous renditions of cats, pumpkins, ghosts, and spiders.
And there is more to come this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Interested in sharing your Halloween artistic vision? Contact Marty Behr [hold curser over name to reveal email address at bottom of screen, or just click to email].

Thanks to all our Halloween painters and merchants! The windows look wonderful. And thank you Falls Church Times for the great display.
We will be on duty Saturday at 10 am near CVS on West Broad Street to distribute painting assignments unless it’s raining really hard. In that case please check your emails — we’ll send out assignments that way.
Hopefully the weather will brighten up next week.
Happy Halloween!
Marty Behr
