   Is there any news on what will take the place of Syms in that location?

   EDITOR’S RESPONSE: Good question! According to the City’s Economic Development Office, someone has signed a non-binding letter of intent, but the property owner won’t say who it is until they have an actual lease commitment in writing.

   Can anyone recall the name of the retailer who occupied the site before Syms? Hint – it’s an eight letter word with an apostrophe.

   I’d be thrilled if a Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods would occupy that site.

   Any chance of the powers that be making that happen?

   Jelleff’s is correct. The retailer, which specialized in women’s apparel, was in business from 1910 to 1979. At one time it had stores in DC, Maryland, Tysons Corner, Shirlington, and Springfield Mall.

   I would like a Whole Foods to go in that space.
