Metrorail Project to Affect Traffic This Weekend

Work on the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project will affect nighttime traffic starting this weekend.

Beginning Friday, Nov. 20, construction work is planned along westbound I-66 between Lee Highway and the Dulles Connector Road (Route 267).   All work will be performed between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m., except where noted below.

On westbound I-66, crews will close the middle and right through lanes for pavement restriping overnight Friday, Nov. 20 into Saturday morning, Nov. 21.  When complete, those lanes will re-open to traffic, and the left lane will close.  At least one lane will be open at all times.  The work should be complete by 9 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 21.

The left through lane of westbound I-66 will close again overnights as early as Sunday, Nov. 22 for concrete barrier placement, to be completed by Tuesday, Nov. 24.

The right through lane of the eastbound Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) flyover to eastbound I-66 will close for barrier placement as early as Sunday night, Nov. 21 and again Monday night, Nov. 22.  The left lane will remain open.

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, no construction lane closures will occur between noon Wednesday, Nov. 25 and noon Monday Nov. 30.

Information about the project is available at www.dullesmetro.com or 703-572-0506.  For construction-related emergencies, call 877-586-6789.
