Kudos to the city road crews who once again put Fairfax Co. and Arlington Co. to shame. They were struggling out there, but down on the East End where we live, roads are pretty good, especially Roosevelt (where I saw the accident on the hill – pretty spectacular with a car up on the Ft. Taylor hill embankment). The city staff cleared him out quickly and I’ll venture to say that that is the best slope for not sliding in the city as of now.

Well the Lions could not sell fruit again today, so next Saturday from 8am till we are sold out….all profits go to charity….We will be at the city property yard next to the recycle center.

The Lions Club Fruit sale will start up again Sunday from Noon till we sell out. If that plan changes I’ll let you know or feel free to call me at 703-533-8610. Our fruit is guaranteed the best you’ve ever had. We sell at the City property yard next to the recycle center.

Hmm. Well, I’m going to head up to the Farmers Market anyway – it will be fun. I was hoping to be able to warm up in the Community Center but I’m not surprised that it’s closed – it’s crazy out there!

Stopped by the Farmers Market at 8 a.m. (I’ll explain why later.) Only vendor there was Sunnyside Orchards, so we bought a bag of Pink Lady apples. The apple man said the chocolate man had been there but that he left.

BTW, no gas at the East Falls Church Exxon or the Broad Street Sunoco. The Broad Street Exxon was closed.

Per Assistant CM 6:27 a.m.:

All main road arteries are plowed curb to curb and most minor ones. Crews working residential secondary streets. Work will be continuing given continuing snow fall.

Public sidewalk clearing focus is on public safety areas at City Hall, Aurora House and Property Yard. Most work will be Sunday once snow stops.

Library and Community Center are closed today and Sunday.

Only one vehicle accident- not severe. Emergency route policy in effect so abandoned/parked vehicles on the routes will be towed.

These are bold statements by our Little City. I will be at the Farmers Market in the morning and I’m hoping the number of vendors isn’t limited to zero.
