I'd like to pay less for water. But if the option is to pay more and get a bunch of Fairfax County residents to pay more too, and then we get to spend that money on things (which is sounds like might come to an end), then I'd rather spend more.

If all this legal stuff works out in favor of Fairfax County I assume we'll end up spending less for water, right? Of course, it seems we'll spend proportionally more on real estate taxes to make up for it.

We've had wildly different bills from time to time as well. Sometimes I can't figure out why, other times I think I know the reason (such as irrigating new plants all summer long). Our last bill was $60 less than the previous one.

I sure wouldn't mind paying FX Co. rates, though! Wyatt Shields once told a group that FX Co. water was subsidized, so they pay much less than we do--about a third as much, if I remember correctly. He also said that probably wouldn't last much longer, since those subsidies were funded by the economic growth that the Co. enjoyed. If I were in FX Co. and paying for FCC water, I'd probably be pretty upset.

Speaking of "wreak even greater economic havoc," can someone PLEASE explain why our (two people) water bill has gone from $90 to $165? These past two bills (which have been identical...to the penny) are through the roof! I used to complain when they were $90! $90 being the lowest over nineteen years...and lately, rapidly increasing to $165. All sorts of excuses have been given (including, "Perhaps someone comes in during the day and uses your shower?"). Just wondering if any others find bills seemingly out of line? Is this where some of the surplus comes from?
