‘Signs of Change’ Is Student Calendar Art Winner for April

April 1, 2010

April’s winner of the Firstfriday Student Calendar Art Contest is Emilia Rueckert, 16, from George Mason High School. The theme of the student art contest this year is “Change in the City of Falls Church,” and Emilia’s work is entitled “Signs of Change.”  Each month the Falls Church Times features a winning student’s art work.

For her winning entry, Emilia received a $200 gift certificate at Art and Frame of Falls Church, a plaque noting participation in the contest, and an Artist Sketch Set. All participants received a certificate and a FIRSTfriday of Falls Church T-shirt.

Previous years’ calendars were produced and mailed by the City to all residences. The City’s budget shortfall precluded that this year, so the Firstfriday organization took over the contest and created an online calendar. View the whole calendar at www.firstfridayoffallschurch.com/On_Line_Calendar.html.
