SATURDAY, 2/18: VPIS Hosts “Transition Falls Church” Meeting
On Saturday, February 18 at 4pm, the Falls Church Village Preservation and Improvement Society will hold a community screening of a documentary titled “In Transition 1.0″ as an opportunity to learn about the exciting community-based initiative called Transition Falls Church. Transition Falls Church is a community-led movement which aims to build a self-reliant, sustainable, and resilient infrastructure in the Falls Church area powered by local food, energy, economy, and ingenuity. By unleashing the collective genius of Falls Church citizens, we can respond to the issues posed by climate change and peak-oil while simultaneously building a closer, tight-knit community. Come by to learn more about the movement and how you can get your neighborhood on board!
The location will be the Falls Church Community Center, Community Room, 223 Little Falls Street.

Will there be another screening? Is the documentary available on the web?
I cannot attend, but am interested in learning more about Transition Falls Church.
There will be more screenings and other public events about Transition Falls Church over the next few weeks and months to come out to and get involved with. We may screen “In Transition 1.0″ a second time, but that is not a concrete decision at this point. It is also available for free online. I don’t know the exact web address, but a Google search should be able to find it.
Matt Abel’s commentary is a good intro to the Transition movement -http://fallschurchtimes.com/index.php?s=transition . If you have questions, want to know more, or want to get involved, feel free to send an email to transitionfc@gmail.com.
