The George Mason High School Girls Lacrosse Team won two blowouts, then dropped a heartbreaker heading into the final week of the regular season.

In last week’s games, GMHS trounced non-District AAA team Deep Run 19 to 4, then bested District foe Freedom South Riding 18 to 9.

Last night saw Loudoun County win 14-13 in a seesaw battle that Loudoun won late in the contest.

GMHS now stands in third place in the Dulles AA District with a District record of 5 and 2 (9-3 overall), behind Broad Run and Loudoun.

One regular season game remains at home against Briar Woods on Monday, May 4, which will determine final seeding going into the Dulles District Tournament.

Love to brag about my grandchild (Sally), but the real thrill is seeing those girls play so well as a TEAM.

Thank you for covering girls’ sports. That is what’sbeen so sorely missing! How about doing some profiles on girl athletes.

    Jocelyn and Dave,

Thanks for your note. Delighted to post info on girls sports, and grateful to Jane and Mark Johansen for supplying the information in this article. We are an all-volunteer operation, so it helps to have contributions like this. We would love to post individual or team profiles, as well.

    Best,

    Stan Fendley
