Stay Alert Via Falls Church Alert

Bad news travels fast, but sometimes not fast enough.

The good news is that for several years the City’s Office of Emergency Management has offered a service called Falls Church Alert (FCA) to notify citizens of local or regional crises or emergencies.  The bad news is not many people have signed up for it.

Through the Roam Secure Alert Network, FCA can deliver notifications and updates to all your electronic devices simultaneously.   In the event of an emergency, text messages will be sent to your cell phone, pager, BlackBerry, PDA, and/or email account.

Of course the likelihood of an emergency is low and some may not pose a serious inconvenience.  However, when true crises occur it may be difficult or even impossible to obtain critical instructions via regular channels.  Through Falls Church Alert, citizens have a means of receiving the latest information available through the most direct means possible.

Thanks, George for posting info about the Falls Church Alert system. We hope we don’t have to use it but if we have an emergency it’s a quick way for the City to send updates with crtical information to everyone who subscribes.

I signed up for the Alert when it was first available. I like the severe weather feature…when an advisory that could effect Falls Church has been issued I get an email.
