Cool Music on Summer Saturday Nights at Creative Cauldron
FALLS CHURCH TIMES STAFF
July 11, 2012
Creative Cauldron’s experimental summer cabaret series runs every Saturday night through August 25 at ArtSpace Falls Church. The series, which was first envisioned by Matt Conner, Creative Cauldron Artistic Associate, gives professional singers and performers an opportunity to craft their own individual cabaret evening, breaking the “fourth wall” between the audience to share their unique viewpoint.
This year’s lineup features a diverse array of themes including “Tumble Down Dreams,” an anecdotal and musical journey through a life in the theater presented by veteran stage performer and Arena Stage company member Terry Currier. “Cabaroke” with Chris Sizemore is a hybrid evening of cabaret and karaoke in which the audience gets to choose the performer’s song list. There will also be a concert reading of a controversial new musical “What Kind of Love: An Evening with Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings.”
Shows are Saturdays at 8 pm. Tickets are $20 for Adults and $18 for Students & Seniors. For this cabaret series, Creative Cauldron is set up like an intimate club with a cash bar that opens at 7:30 pm. Reserved tables for 2 are available for $50 and a table for 4 with a bottle of wine is available for $100. Order tickets in advance at www.creativecauldron.org or call 571-239-5288.
Creative Cauldron at ArtSpace is located at 410 S. Maple Avenue. Free parking is available in the garages at 410 and 400 S. Maple Avenue.
