GMHS Girls in Region B Soccer Final Tonight

The George Mason Girls Soccer team will meet Madison County on Friday, June 4th at 7 pm for the Region B Championship game held at GMHS.

The last time the teams faced each other the game went to four overtimes and ended in a Mustang victory on penalty kicks. Goalkeeper Nicole Mitchell stopped the first two Madison PK’s as Mason went on to a 3-0 win.

Wednesday night the Mustangs defeated Central-Woodstock High,10-0, to advance to the regional final.  Madision defeated Clark County, 2-0, in the other semi-final game.

The George Mason boys are away at Nelson County in their Regional Final tonight.

George Mason High Schools Boys and Girls soccer teams won decisive victories tonight earning themselves spots in the Virginia Region B Finals. The Boys defeated Altavista 6 to 1 while the Girls overwhelmed Central High of Woodstock VA 10 to 0.

Both teams will play in Regional Finals games on Friday night June 4th, at locations to be announced.

Mason Girls Soccer District Tournament Champs

The Madison County Mountaineers battled George Mason High School’s varsity girls soccer team to a draw, 0-0, through four overtime periods Thursday night in the Bull Run District Tournament Championship. But the Mustangs won the game in penalty kicks, 3-0 behind the outstanding performance of their senior keeper, Nicole Mitchell, who stopped the first two Madison PK’s.

Mustang coach Jennifer Parsons was named Bull Run District Coach of the Year and Junior, Violet Miller was named Bull Run District Player of the Year.

After claiming the regular season and tournament Bull Run titles, Mason will begin regional play with a home game on Monday. After the Memorial Day parade, come support both the GMHS Boys’ (5 PM) and Girls’ (7 PM) teams for a double-header of great soccer.

George Mason Boys Soccer Finishes Season Undefeated

With a 7 to 2 victory over Manassas Park on Tuesday the Mustang Boys soccer team completed a perfect 10-0-0 season in Bull Run District play. The Mustangs also defeated Rappahannock County 4 to nil on Monday in a rescheduled game.

The Mustangs are the top seed in the Bull Run District Tournament and will play the winner of Madison County/Strasburg at George Mason on Monday at 8 p.m. Read more

George Mason Lady Mustangs soccer team honored their senior players and continued their march toward a third consecutive district championship on Friday with a 10-0 victory over Rappahannock County.  The weather held for the senior ceremonies recognizing the six Mustangs who will graduate in June.

George Mason’s Varsity Boys soccer team continued its winning ways with a three to zero defeat of rival Clarke County. This followed their 2-0 victory at Manassas Park High last week and keeps them undefeated for the season.

Likewise, Girl’s Varsity avenged an earlier loss defeating Clarke County (3-0) and handily dispatching Manassas Park High 8 to 0 in a pair of home games.

The Boys JV team rebounded from a 3-0 loss to Manassas Park High with a 2-0 victory over Clarke County.

Girls JV fought Clarke County to a nil-nil tie while their game against Manassas Park High was canceled.

The Boy’s teams will play at Madison County Friday while the Girls will meet Madison County at the George Mason field (5:30 p.m for JV and 7 p.m. for Varsity). Be sure to come out and support the teams.

Mustang Boys Soccer Teams Defeat Essex

George Mason’s boys soccer teams handily handled Essex High School of Tappahannock on Friday, April 9. Varsity won 11-1 to remain undefeated for the season. In the early show, the JV team posted a 9-2 victory.

GM Boys soccer has two home games this week with rival Clark County coming to town tonight (April 13) followed by Madison County on Friday, April 16 (JV games at 5:30 p.m. followed by Varsity at 7 p.m.)

VIDEO: Fox 5 Reports on Soccer Team Trip to South Africa

Last month the Falls Church Times reported that a local U12 girls soccer team had won an international dance competition and an all-expense-paid trip to tour South Africa and see the World Cup. The story continues to be read and generate comments from soccer fans all over the world.
