The Falls Church Education Foundation will host an exciting “Antique Road Show Experience” hosted by Quinn’s Auction Galleries on September 9th. This offers the opportunity for guests to bring an item for a professional appraisal by Matt Quinn, as seen in the popular TV show, while enjoying refreshments and the company of others. The event is open to all. Just go to www.fcedf.org for the details.
The Antique Road Show event is one of FCEF’s FUNdraising parties for the benefit of Falls Church City Public Schools. Attendees may “Sign Up” online at www.fcedf.org, but only until June 20.
The “Sign Up” events are part of a fun new initiative launched at this year’s FCEF Gala and Auction that everyone can take part in. With a variety of themes, parties are hosted locally by friends of the foundation and supporting businesses and for a specified contribution, dependant on the event, guests can “Sign Up” to attend.
Also available is a wine/cheese/charcuterie tasting with James Roth of Red White and Bleu in Falls Church, and a Fall Bonfire and Cookout at the newly renovated home of Gabi and John Sandoz. Gabi was this year’s Gala Chairwoman who organized the glamorous 2012 Gala Dinner and Auction in the elegant Hall of Flags, at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, last month. Nearly 200 supporters of the Falls Church City Public School attended the event to raise approximately $90,000 to support new and ongoing school initiatives. Over $7,000 was raised for the FCEF Smart Technology Fund to purchase iPads at Mt. Daniel Elementary School and Smart Boards at TJ Elementary School and $3,000 was raised in support of the new Backpacks and Books initiative.
The SmartTechnology Fund was established by FCEF in 2011 to meet the needs of the students in the FCCP schools and to ensure that it achieves its mission “to prepare our students for the challenges of the 21st century”. The Back Packs and Books initiative was started this year to provide snacks and meals for students whose families are unable to provide regular meals for their children due to socio-economic circumstances. These initiatives are ongoing and essential to maintain the exceptional standards that we have come to expect from the Falls Church Public Schools.
To book your place at the Antiques Road Show Experience and to find out more about all the parties that are open, and the work of the Falls Church Education Foundation, go to www.fcedf.org. A portion of your donation is tax deductible.

If you like — or remember — folk music that was popular from the 1950′s to the 1970′s, you will like the music performed by Shenandoah Run. This group was formed to rekindle its members’ love for the classic American folk sound and to revive that musical style. Each member was hand-picked and has performed for years with other groups and at various venues. They are delighted to merge their talents to bring to their audiences songs that evoke the joy of that special “folk” sound. The repertoire includes classic folk songs, as well as more contemporary tunes, given their special Shenandoah Run treatment.

- Shenandoah Run will perform classic American folk music at Creative Cauldron on Saturday, June 16. For more information, go to www.creativecauldron.org
