The seventh annual Run for the Schools 5K race and 1 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk will be held on Sunday, September 16th during the Fall Festival Weekend in Falls Church. Generous corporations, as well as community groups, are sponsoring the race and fun run including 24-hour Fitness, Apple Federal Credit Union, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Caliber CPA Group, Citizens for a Better City (CBC), Dominion Jewelers, Economic Development Authority of Falls Church, Hilton Garden Inn Falls Church, Markon, Novick Group, Road Runner Sports, Vet Advisor and Virginia Commerce Bank.
Early bird registration is open until August 10, 2012. After August 10th, it will increase to $35. In addition, registration is available at packet pick up on Friday, September 14th from 4-8 p.m. at Road Runner Sports in Falls Church and Saturday, September 15th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Falls Church Fall Festival in Cherry Hill Park. The fee for race day registration will increase to $40.
The 5K race and 1 mile family fun run/walk will begin on Park Avenue near the intersection of Little Falls Street in the City of Falls Church. After completing the courses participants are invited to the awards ceremony and family party featuring activities such as a dunk tank and face painting. Registered participants will receive a race packet including a timing tag and commemorative dry-fit tshirt, and are eligible to win prizes.
