West Street Re-opens to Traffic

The South West Street detour was removed Friday night and the road opened to through traffic. Work continues next week with no road closures anticipated. However, the southbound parking lane on West between Poplar Dr. and Laura Dr. will be closed. Area residents have been notified.

The roadbed reconstruction project (www.fallschurchva.gov/SWestStreet) officially starts in September; the current work is is a precursor project that will repair stormwater facilities.

Following the Labor Day holiday, roadway reconstruction will commence and should be completed by the end of October, weather permitting. We sincerely appreciate the patience and continued involvement from the residents in helping to improve this project.

South West Street Detour Starts Today

The South West Street roadbed reconstruction project officially starts in September, and a precursor project has begun that will repair stormwater facilities.

Starting Wednesday, August 5, and lasting about two weeks, the street will be closed at all times to through traffic from Parker Street to Madison Lane.

A detour will take drivers on Parker Street to Ellison Street to Madison Lane. Parking restrictions are in place on Madison Lane and S. West Street as a result.

Local access will be permitted. Access to driveways will be maintained and trash and recycling collection will take place as regularly scheduled.
