Wonderful. The unintended, but entirely predictable, consequences of careless uncontrolled urban development. Like night follows day, more potential well-off victims attract more criminals. More stress on police who are thus less able to help in non-violent situations.
Banks get robbed everywhere, regardless of urban development. If only urban development would overcome the Stratford Motor Lodge we might see our overall crime stats plummet. I suspect that specific location has the highest concentration of crime in the City.
Let’s not forget The Eden Center Andy..
Andy’s “suspicions” ignore reality and the common sense likelihood of an increase in crime with thousands more residents crammed into a tiny area as an attraction for criminals. This guy has been and continues to be on the Planning Commission, folks. Are he and his fellow developer sycophants now targeting the Stratford Motor Lodge to be “redeveloped” for another 300+ apartments? Guess the commercial part of the “mixed use” would not be a bank though, because “banks get robbed everywhere.” Lol.
Lou – if you check the FCPD’s crime logs, you’ll see that the Stratford Motor Lodge has been the site for numerous violent crimes, drug crimes, and prostitution busts over the years…long before some of the big development projects that you oppose.
You talk about people being crammed into a tiny area as if people aren’t free to come and go as they please. If FC is the crowded, crime-ridden place that you despise so strongly, why not pack up and head west?
